From your teacher

Hello everyone, my name is Jnae, I am a student and teacher from Houston, TX. I have been teaching yoga for seven years and practicing yoga for 11 years. I have trained in Maui, Malaysia and Houston by amazing teachers like Karin Kuhn, Gokulacandra, Davina Davidson and Christina Martini. I am honored to be guiding you in this practice.

I’ll be guiding you through the ashtanga half primary sequence. Please listen to your body if you have any current limitations or injuries. Use mindfulness to discern how far and how much you do. Take rest when needed, the goal is to finish the class with a calm and equanimous mind.

We’ll be focusing primarily on using ujjayi pranayama, our deep heating victorious breath, drishti, our focal gaze to help center the mind and the eyes to a steady gaze, and bandhas, the magic locks that help support our core, spine, structure and foundations to remain calm steady and relaxed.

The essence of yoga is that it is a breathing practice and I envision you finding the deep relaxation and internal awakening that comes with it. If you are new and even if you’re returning, remember to honor your body and where you are in each given posture. Everything is temporary and this is a practice, meaning you can come back tomorrow. The poses do not have to be perfect. May you remain joyful throughout.

I do give hands on assist. Hands on assist are to help you move more into alignment. You can opt in or out.

See you in class!
