About Uptown Houston
One of the largest business districts in the United States, Uptown Houston packs shopping, residential living, and hotels into a thriving urban area.
The Galleria dominates Uptown Houston. With over five million square feet of retail space, it is the largest mall in Texas, featuring upscale stores such as Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue. The complex also contains two hotels, three office towers, and a private health club. Over 30 hotels cluster in the area, ranging from affordable to luxury-class. The mall is a popular destination for weekend visitors.
The Williams Tower, formerly known as the Transco Tower, features a multi-story water fountain and sculpture. The park surrounding the tower, with its green grass and oak trees, is a favorite location for photographs and sightseeing. Nearby, the Lake on Post Oak is home to office buildings nestled among ponds, trees, and flowers. On weekends, it's a popular destination for families and pets.
Try one of the area restaurants, featuring a wide selection of cuisines, from Mexican to Vietnamese to Polish. The area also hosts night clubs and live music venues.
For a taste of the outdoors, visit Memorial Park, home to over 1,500 acres of trails and paths. It also features a golf course, softball fields, and swimming pool, and contains the Houston Arboretum and Botanical Garden.
In the heart of the city, Uptown Houston's shopping, parks, hotels, and restaurants offer something for all visitors.
