For Rice University's Interfaith Week 2019, sponsored by the Boniuk Council, the Religion and Public Life Program (RPLP) will host a public conversation on Religion and the University.Religion can show up in many different ways on university campuses: in the lives of students, faculty, and staff; in the content of a variety of disciplines; and at the center of polarizing controversy or as a helpful framework for generative conversation. Both faculty and students on this panel will address the myriad ways religion enters classrooms and how faculty and students should (or should not?) engage with religion. Other issues to be addressed include the religiosity of students or faculty themselves, having difficult conversations, and engaging with controversial topics related to religion on university campuses. WHEN: January 29, 2019. 7:00-8:30pm. WHERE: Room 309, Sewall Hall, Rice University, 6100 Main St. This event is sponsored by the Religion and Public Life Program at Rice University. The event is free and open to the public. Please register here.
