Dear Sponsors,

The City of Houston’s Office of Business Opportunity (OBO) Advisory Board proudly presents the 6th Annual Champions of Diversity Awards Ceremony on Thursday, February 7, 2019, at the Grand Concourse C of the George R. Brown Convention Center, 1001 Avenida de las Americas, Houston, Texas 77010. The event will kick off with a festive Pre-Reception at 6 p.m. The program follows at 7 p.m. and a Post-Reception immediately after the ceremony. The theme of the Awards Ceremony is “Celebrating Economic Recovery, Sustainability, and Resiliency.” We are proud to have Houston First Corporation serve as a Presenting Sponsor for the fourth year. Mayor Sylvester Turner is the Honorary Chair.

For the past six years, the Champions of Diversity Awards Ceremony has been recognizing prime contractors, as well as Minority, Women, Small, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (MWSDBEs) for their outstanding performances on City of Houston contracts. We also honor a City of Houston Department and Community Partner that has supported the mission and purpose of the MWSDBE Program. One of the evening’s highlights is the presentation of the “Ernest B. McGowen, Sr. Champion of Diversity Award.” This prestigious award is bestowed upon an individual whose efforts and impact epitomize the mission of the MWSDBE Program.

We are seeking sponsorship for the 6th Annual Champions of Diversity Awards Ceremony. Your sponsorship will enable us to present this event at no cost to the honorees and guests, support OBO’s ongoing program initiatives and provide scholarship support for college students pursuing degrees in business-related courses through our local business chamber partners. Since the inception of the event, the OBO Advisory Board has awarded more than $25,000 towards college students' scholarships.

We are collaborating with one of our business partners, the Houston Business Development, Inc., a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, so that your donation may receive a tax benefit. To appear on the invitation, we need your commitment by January 10, 2019.

Thank you for your consideration and we look forward to your support and participation. Should you have questions or need additional i
