Stabilization and Collaboration for Houston's Art Community
The MATCH will be available to all of Houston's arts and cultural organizations. Many of Houston's small to mid-sized arts organizations currently office, perform and exhibit in sub-standard, and difficult to locate facilities. A centrally located, shared facility will provide a distinct home for these groups, and will enable them to become more self-sustaining as they collaborate and expand their exposure to increase their organizational capacity, audiences, programming, and community impacts. As a further benefit, a central location will address the fragmented cultural community by encouraging collaboration and efficient sharing of resources.
Cultural Development in Houston's Midtown
The MATCH is an economic development project that will energize, populate and revitalize a neighborhood that has long been fragmented and at a standstill for development. Situated half-way between the Central Business district and the Museum and Medical centers, this stretch of Midtown is made up of empty lots, fluctuating retail businesses and decrepit houses.
