City Lights at Avenida Houston is pulling out all the stops to transform the downtown plaza into the perfect winter wonderland - complete with ice for skating, lights for gazing, and activities to make your family’s season bright.
Stare in wonder at an array of gaily decorated trees courtesy of the Alley Theater. Bring the ones you love, stay nearby and make a weekend of it, become immersed in a community of joy and holiday cheer.

Deck the Trees has been a favorite Houston holiday tradition for more than a decade. Traditionally the event ushered in the Alley's Theatre’s holiday production of A Christmas Carol.
Even a pandemic cannot stop this annual tradition. This year 28 magical trees will relocate to the “Houston’s Grand Holiday Window” of the GRB Houston on the Plaza at Avenida Houston. Each tree is decorated by Houston’s leading designers and sponsored by generous businesses and individuals.

The Ice at Discovery Green clocks in as the largest outdoor skating rink in the Southwest. Made from water recycled from the park’s Kinder Lake, the rink is the de facto headquarters for outdoor winter fun in Houston, presenting a wide variety of seasonal programming for skaters and spectators alike. Discovery Green has reinvented the experience to ensure that you can still make memories here with your family and friends. Safety protocols include increased sanitation and contactless ticket buying. A reduced number of tickets will be sold to maintain social distancing.
