from his childhood growing up in the redlight district of Kolkata to his current life as an artist living in New York City.
Through his interdisciplinary practice, which combines photography with painting, installation, and video, Halder explores his past and present identity, articulating experiences of displacement, loss, and transformation.
Avijit Halder (b. 1988, Kolkata, India) is a 2019 graduate of the ICP-Bard MFA program and earned his BA in film from New York University in 2012. Most recently, Halder presented a solo exhibition of photographs and video pieces at Higher Pictures in New York. Halder lives and works in New York City.
