Avid Protools is the recording industry standard software for music production. Topics include setting up your computer for Protools, the user interface, tool options, basic recording and mixing techniques such as proper microphone selection, recording and mixing vocals, proper use of EQ, compression, using digital signal processors, panning, vocal overdubbing, and cleaning up recorded tracks. Recording on a budget? No problem. There is information on how to set up your home recording studio with limited funds, including, monitor, microphone, computer and hardware selection. NOTE: This is a lecture/demo class. Students are encouraged to bring a laptop with a recent version of Protools. If you do so, please have some session files to work on. If you don't have Protools you can still observe and will learn. Bryan Ferguson (AAS, Audio Recording Technology, HCC) has been an Audio Engineer for over 10 years. He has worked with famous acts and companies such as People Magazine/TV, Kim Kardashian, Good Morning America, Ginuwine, Paul Wall, and Wreckshop Records.
