Have you ever thought about welding? This is the time to do it! Welding equipment has become safer, cheaper and more user friendly than ever before. This hands-on class will introduce you to the types of welding available to anyone with household electricity. You'll do ARC welding, mig-welding, oxy-acetylene torch welding and very cool plasma cutting. All will be done on machines you can own. Instructor will discuss safety, types of equipment, where to get it and how much to spend. Safety glasses, helmets and gloves are provided. If you have an interest in making metal artwork, patio furniture, auto restorations or basic repair and fence work, this class is for you. NOTE: The improved and ever-expanding Houston area metal workers resource guide is included. It contains information on welding equipment, local suppliers, where to get metal (new and surplus), metal working tools and safety equipment plus lots of websites and 800 numbers. See Welding Class Video.
John Barber has been welding in industry, for trade shows and museums since 1971. He holds a BFA in sculpture and operates a design and fabrication shop. View his work at www.johnbarberstudios.com.
