The Art of Developing & Illustrating Children's Books

Do you have an idea for a children's book or would you like to learn about stories that are ripe for illustrations? Learn how to take your idea and get it ready to submit to a publisher. During this class complete an entire illustration project on a short storybook text. Learn how to: visualize words so your pictures tell the story, choose the form your illustrations will take (e.g., bordered or vignette), utilize drawing techniques to attract an audience, and create a dummy book for a publisher. Students are encouraged to bring their own ideas that will be discussed during a creative brainstorming session. Also discuss copyright laws and how to talk to your printer. NOTE: You don't need to know how to draw to benefit from this class. Jackie Halliburton has taught high school art including beginning through advanced drawing.
